Every day we encounter news and reports of our planet’s bleak future, and climate anxiety has been described as the public health issue of our time. Yet the dystopian vision of climactic and environmental deterioration will often have the opposite effect; instead of acting, we switch channels. Apathy and disillusionment are just as dangerous to the environment as carbon emissions and poaching. Is it possible to create a different vision of our world, and in that way encourage action?

The award-winning and internationally renowned photographer Björn Persson’s nature photography, collected in the book Beauty Will Save the World, celebrates all that is beautiful in the world around us. Persson’s photos take us around the globe, from the massive ice sheets of Antarctica to the African savannahs. The result is a poetic interpretation of a magnificent yet forgotten world, with a clear message; planet Earth’s condition cannot only be communicated through numbers and diagrams.
